planning, partnership development, grant writing tips and

Improved Drought Assistance for Farmers
A number of changes have been implemented to improve drought
assistance payments and it is now open to more farmers. If
you are located in an EC declared area, you could be eligible
for EC Relief Payments, an interest rate subsidy and counselling

Career Development
Studies
A new initiative from the
Aust Govt Dept of Education, Science and Training; this website
contains information from an introductory level to a nationally
recognised qualification in the career development area. All
of the content is provided for FREE, unless you want to get
a qualification in which case you must pay. The introductory
information and certificate level course content will be of
interest to people such as parents, relative, youth workers
and others involved in helping those looking for a career
pathway or occupational change. The information is available

Employment Innovation Fund
The EIF is a discretionary funding program designed to provide
seed funding to organisations to develop innovative approaches
to resolve specific labour market problems and open up employment
opportunities. Funding of up to $100,000 for up to 12 months
is available for projects that address a specific employment
or labour market problem in an innovative way. Successful
projects will provide best practice models which can be used
to improve employment outcomes on a broader scale. For more

up to the value of $1 million per year.
Peter Brock Foundation
The Peter Brock Foundation has a strong commitment to assisting
the community and individuals in times of need. It provides
funding under three categories; 1) Welfare, e.g. preventative
programs that help young disadvantaged people, 2) Social Issues,
e.g. programs that deal with drug addicts and their families
and 3) Community Programs, e.g. particularly those that emphasise
a growing understanding of self-reliance and responsibility.

Leg-Up Grants for Volunteer-Run Museums
Leg-up grants are available at any time through the year until
funds are expended. $100 - $500 dollar-for-dollar matched
grants are available for things such as attending a workshop,
visiting another museum to gather information, hosting an
event, travel assistance, attendance fees and speaker fees.

NAVA Visual and Craft Artists Grant Scheme
The NAVA Visual and Craft Artists Grants Scheme offers funding
to professional artists, either individuals or groups, to
assist with the costs of public presentation of artworks.
Grants of up to a maximum of $500 for individuals and up to
$1,000 for groups can be used for framing, media releases,
media photographs, advertising, space rental, installation
costs, promotional printing, mail outs, documentation, freight,
travel, equipment rental, insurance, technical assistance,
opening costs etc. Applications close on 15 Febuary,
15 May, 15 August & 15 November each year. For

Trusts for Young Australians
The Trust for Young Australians offers funding to young people
that have the potential to be elite but whose families find
it difficult to meet the expenses. Athletics Scholarships
(14-18 year olds): Scholarships are for one year and comprise
of a grant of $500 to assist with general costs, a kit of
clothing and equipment, assistance with travelling expenses
to state and national competitions, opportunities to participate
in functions conducted by Athletics Australia and the Trust
for Young Australians. Swimming Scholarships (10-16 year olds):
a grant to assist with the costs of clothing, equipment and
travel, assistance with travelling expenses to state and national
competitions for participants who are selected. Applications

Festivals Australia Grants
Festivals Australia grants are available to local government,
cultural organisations, regional arts councils or other not-for-profit
organisations responsible for managing a festival (except
for major cultural festivals and fringe festivals in capital
cities). Funding is for specific cultural projects which will
add to the cultural program at the festival or enhance the
local communities' cultural image. There are two funding
rounds with closing dates of 15 February and 15 July each

Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA
The Border Rivers-Gwydir CMA has allocated $26.3m
of funding over 3 years to better manage and improve
natural resources in the catchment. Projects funded will reflect
the activites developed by local people to meet priorities
in their region and are about finding local solutions to local
problems. Investment will be targeted at 5 priority areas;
soils and land use; salinity; riverine ecosystems; vegetation
biodiversity; community capacity building. For more information

Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority Funding
The Northern Rivers CMA has allocated $18.6m over three years
in funding to help protect and enhance natural resources in
the Northern Rivers region. Funds will be allocated across
our three target areas: Biodiversity, Rivers and Land Management.

Namoi Catchment Management Authority grants
The Namoi CMA has allocated $24.6m over three years
in funding to help protect and enhance natural resources in
the catchment. Funds will be allocated in line with the Namoi
Investment Strategy and the five catchment targets identified
in the Namoi Catchment Blueprint. These five target areas
are biodiversity, riverine ecosystems, river salinity, salinity,
soil health and sustainable landscapes. The Investment Strategy

Indigenous Capital Assistance Scheme
The Indigenous Capital Assistance Scheme supports Indigenous
busineses to access commercial finance, and culturally appropriate
professional and mentoring support. Throught the Westpac Banking
Corporation, financial support for loans ranging from $50,000
to $500,000 are available over a three year period in conjunction
with professional and mentoring support services. Financial
support includes an interest rate subsidy, a subsidy of a
portion of the bank application and establishment fees, and
a professional and mentoring support services subsidy. Indigenous
businesses must meet the financial institution's lending criteria
and the ICAS eligibility criteria to apply. If you would like

The
Anna Wearne Trust
The Anna Wearne Trust will, by ensuring funds are provided
to appropriate charitable institutions, create opportunities
for young people to reach their potential, where such potential
is hampered due to disadvantage or inequality. The objectives
of the Trust are to a) assist young people to enable the pursuit
of educational goals; b) seek ways to advance the reconciliation
of indigenous people through specific projects or individual
assistance; c) support young people to take on leadership
roles that are of benefit to a community; d) facilitate and
uphold the rights of women and support the advancement of
and respect for women in all fields; e) create a network of
non-financial support and encouragement whereby the trust
acts as a bridge between young people and opportunities. For

FRRR Small Grants for Small Rural Communities
The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal invites not
for profit organisations to apply for funding for projects
and activities that offer clear public benefit for people
living in small rural and regional locations in Australia,
contributing to their development in social and community
welfare, economic, environmental, health, education or cultural
areas. Applications from communities with a population of
10,000 or less will receive priority. Grants will be made
in amounts up to $5,000. To be eligible, projects must be
for a charitable purpose. There are two grant rounds per year
scheduled for 2005, 2006 and 2007, closing on the

Food Chain Demonstration Grants
Funding is available to food businesses who want to advance
their supply chain management further for projects that involve
the collaboration of three or more chain participants. Food
businesses, service providers and the "end customer"
are encouraged to get together to demonstrate best practice
value chain management. Funding will be provided on a dollar
for dollar basis. The average grant is expected to be around
$200,000 with an upper limit of $500,000. For more information

National
Indigenous Cadetship Project
The NICP is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
students studying at an accredited educational institution
in a diploma, advanced diploma or their first undergraduate
degree. As a cadet, NICP can assist you with a study allowance
while you study and provide practical work experience in a
paid work placement. Once you are registered, employers can
access your online resume. You can also access a list of registered
cadetship employers and current vacancies. In most cases cadets
go on to a full-time job with their cadetship employer. Register

Hollie Jackes Memorial Scholarship - Mental Health
First Aid Grants
The Hollie Jackes Memorial Scholarship provides scholarships
for people to train to run Mental Health First Aid courses,
thus helping more people in the community to understand more
about mental illness and to learn more about strategies for
coping and dealing with mental health problems. The Scholarship
will be administered through the Australian Foundation for
